First I tried using the lilac yarn by itself with size 6 needles, but it felt rough & thin for a winter hat, plus comments on the yarn indicated it stretched once washed. So I decided to hold it together with a soft yarn.

Provisionally CO 76 stitches with yarns held together. Wow, that makes a VERY fat brim! I like to transfer the provisional stitches to a smaller circular needle & knit the two ends together.

I decreased 4 stitches on the first round after the brim & did just 5 rounds of purl as that gave me a bit less than an inch for that section. And I did just two rounds of rib on the third repeat, then started the decreases.

This hat is big, soft & squishy.
