Starting ball weights:
Brown - 210
Chenille - 127
White yarn not doubled, so not sure about width & length, since no gauge was given for this pattern. I looked at others’ projects & tried to tell width. I thought the white tip of the tail didn’t look big enough, so I added one more repeat before changing to the rust color. At that point, the white tip was 2.5” long 3.25” wide.
I did hold the chenille & cotton yarns together for the body of the scarf. I increased to 50 stitches, 3” from the beginning of the rust color & 5.5” wide before decreasing. I decreased down to 26 stitches, then copied alliehb’s idea & did 8 rounds of 1 x 1 ribbing. The ribbed section is 3” wide x 1.5” long.
I tried increasing for the body as indicated in the pattern, but the yarns I am using have no stretch & increases in the same spot in back to back rounds didn’t work. Instead, I did KFB increases every few stitches, followed by an even round until I had 54 stitches (28 each side, magic loop). That gave me about 6.5”, a good width for a scarf. I knit the body to 25”.
When I tried just increasing for the head, the head appeared way too big so I ripped back & decreased to 22 stitches each side over two rounds. That way, when I increased for the head it was about the same width as the body. Because my yarns aren’t as thick, the face too short doing 8 decreases per round. I knit 6 rounds even to begin, then decreased 4 stitches per round. I used 4 stitches for the nose stripe, then sewed it down using the yarn tails.
For the strap, I CO 12 stitches with size 8 needles & knit it in the round for 5”.
