The travel Tangram set I bought my son for Christmas was the inspiration for this design. Knitted in one piece and using 4 colours the seven shapes make the classic Tangram square. Next, a larger version for a travel throw. Perhaps I will trying using 7 different colours next time.

The pattern is finally available for this in a larger size 88cm x 88cm with resizing instructions.

NB: For this 18cm x 18cm square I had 20 stitches at the end of the first section.
