3262 yards total
I wound this warp months (a year or two?) ago, and since then kittens have moved in, so let’s say there were issues. There were 407 ends, each 4 2/3 yards, so I’m thinking I had 4 towels in mind. I sleyed and threaded 19 inches on the reed and there were issues (not the first issues) so I said enough already. At 20 ends per inch (2-2-1 in a 12 dent reed), that’s 380 ends, 1774 yards.
There were 4 broken threads during the winding on, so there are 4 weighted threads hanging off the back of the loom. I think these are responsible for the most prominent “stripes”. I think the fabric will relax and wiggle most of that striping away, but I’m ok if it doesn’t.
The linen cone says rayon/flax in marker but seems very linen-y and somewhat rustic, not so soft, but since I don’t wear towels around my neck, I think it will be fine.
Wove 5/19/14-5/25/14, warped the week+- before
This warp yielded 5 towels
On the loom 141 inches 19 inches in the reed
Off the loom 135 inches 18.5 inches wide
Washed and dried 132 inches long 17 inches wide
Shrinkage/draw in 6% length 10.5% width
5 towels, hemmed, (well, one is an inch shorter, but it’s a full towel, just not quite as long as the others if you hold them up to each other)
Used 15 very full bobbins, plus a partial at the beginning, and a squatty bobbin as the end neared and a stick shuttle half full at the end.
