Row 2 (RS): K2, m1r, pm, k14, pm, m1l, k2, pick up 2 sts from cast on edge. (22 sts)
Row 3: P to end, picking up 2 sts purlwise at end of row (I turned the hat to the right side so I knew where exactly to place the new sts and picked them up knitwise.) (24sts)
Row 4: K to marker, m1r, sm, k14, sm, m1l, k to end and pick up two sts from cast on edge. (28 sts)
Row 5: P to end, picking up 2 sts purlwise at end of row. (30 sts)
Row 6: K to marker, m1r, sm, k14, sm, m1l, k to end and pick up two sts from cast on edge. (34 sts)
