Cast on 51 stitches (6 x 8) for pattern + 4 to slip 2 on each end. Flares at the ends, so consider trying E. Zimmerman’s suggestion of casting on 10% fewer stitches and increasing to the desired amount at the beginning and decreasing by 10% at the end. This pattern started with 2 rows of garter stitch which made a very nice edge.

Wound up ripping out the bind off and reworking one row of garter stitch with a K4, K2 together decrease pattern and the second row with a K8, K2 together decrease pattern to fix the flaring at the end.

Finished size is 82” + (6” fringe)x 2 ends = 94”, 2” short of 8’. The pattern actually called for making 10’ which seems VERY long.

I played around with the meandering rib pattern and made bigger and smaller meanders and even included an island. This pattern was moderately challenging for me to keep straight and I did a lot of ripping out.

Blocking improved this nicely.
