Plain Rib
Holding green & yellow together, CO 30 stitches and knit 4 rows of K1 P1 ribbing, slipping the last stitch of each row. Drop yellow, add blue and knit 4 rows in pattern. Drop green, add purple and knit 4 rows in pattern. Continue adding red, orange, hellow, green, blue, purple ending with 4 rows of blue & purple. BO

Bordered Rib
Same process, but CO 36 stitches, K 3 rows, and K the first 3 and last 3 stitches of each row. Continue in pattern with each pair of colors, ending with 3 K rows blue & purple. Last stitch of each row was NOT slipped on this.

The version without the border actually makes a nicer square.
