Two socks from one skein with a generous 15 cm/6” cuff, in a very eighties’ green color. Not sure why I’m so happy with these but i just am. And all that for just $ .75 a pair. Don’t you love it when that happens!
The yarn is a 50/50 wool/acrylic blend in a sharp blueish-green with specks of black. Only two days ago, these were just four obscure skeins in a bag tucked away in a crate at a thrift shop. The yarn was once purchased by somebody who meant to make something out of it some thirty-odd years back - but then they never did. And now, poof! brand new time traveler socks.
Logistics:
-TAAT, toe-up, 1 circular needle
-Judy’s magic cast on 8, 4 on each needle
-Increased every other row to 28 st.
-Start gusset at 16+ cm. (note to self: must make cardboard dummies for most used sock sizes!)
-Fleegle’s heel
-2x2 rib almost immediately after heel - not the best decision, next time a few more rnds of stock.
-eezi stretchy bind off (work two in pattern, work those two again, from the right ndl, a la mode of last worked stitch, with right ndl in back. Work another stitch in pattern, work the two on the right ndl with said ndl in back, etc. Quick, easy, stretchy.)

Them holes! Cut the socks in half, kept the cuffs, knit a few rounds of Schoppel Wolle Reggae Ombré on them to make them into wrist warmers. They match my new big green Reggae Ombré / Jaspé shoulder wrap.
Still a bit sad about the dead socks, but I love this about knitting, that you get to make smth brand new out of smth old (!).
