Notes

This is my most favourite shawl ever.
Pictures don’t do the yarn due credit. It is a lovely soft, squishy yet sturdy merino in a gorgeous mix of autumn colours. Yet from afar it looks like… almost nothing. Background. Drab. Oh, but up close.
And when i’m out in the woods with my dogs these days, and stop to take a 360 degree turn, everywhere i look, on the ground in the sky and all around me, everywhere i see the bright shining blue-green-golden-brown colours of my lovely mr. Rogers.

To get the most out of the ever so gradually changing colour, i worked this shawl in 4-row stripes from either end of the cake.

Garter tab set up:
C/o 3 st., knit 6 rows in garter st.
Seventh row, RS: knit 3 (don’t slip first stitch) place edge marker, pick up and knit 1 from side (one bump from 2 knit rows), p center marker, pick up and knit 2 more from side, place garter edge marker, pick up and knit 3 from bottom.
Turn, WS: k3 (don’t slip first stitch) sm., purl 2, slip center m., p1, sm, k3.
That’s the complete set up plus one WS row.

Shawl recipe:
Note: incr. are done on RS rows only. First stitches of garter edge are knitted, not slipped.
Right side rows: k3, sm, kfb, k till center m., m1R, sm, k1, m1L, k till 1 bef. garter edge m., kfb, sm, k 3
Wrong side rows: k3, sm, purl till last m., sm, k3
Alternate balls/cakes every four rows.
Continue for … cm./…”
