Notes

It’s been a while. Starting all over again with plain 1x1 brioche.
Then, knitting brioche while chatting with a friend.
Then, a simple increase-decrease pattern repeat.
Then, same same but in the round.
Then a hat. Top down preferably.

Finally slowed down enough to actually read the book.

Headband.
Long tail co 15 st.
Basic brioche, reading from the chart. Then on to simple bead pattern, page 60.

Focus on:

  • reading the stitches,
  • knowing colors and sides, i.e. “predict” next row
  • connect stitches, l/d color and l/d side to the charts -->3d complexity
  • when and only when all that is automated, memorize.

It helps to be consistently mindful of

  • where to keep which ball
  • how to keep the working needle relative to the strands
  • when to turn work clockwise and counter clockwise.

I’m going slow but my knitting skills are getting enhanced.
And actually, this brioche pattern is not half as hard as it sounds. And it’s fun! And the fabric is dense and squishy.
