Just a capelet, kind of a testrun of the pattern.
Mystery yarn: very rustic hand spun wool from a garage sale. Quite bulky.

Top down, in the round.
Increases-upside-down: new stitches are to appear in the row below and positioned to the right of the decrease signs in the chart.
Color dominance:
Want CC to be dominant, so I hold that one low, the light color high.
Yoke pattern repeat (without steeks) at top of yoke is n x 4. Size small: 16 times.
I only knit the “repeat” part of the chart.
So my cast on for size s is 64 st.
Using the lightest yellow-white
Changed to 8 mm ndl., fabric was too stiff. Starting to wonder whether the colorwork will pop enough in this rustic wool. But it’s a bit early for a decision, so plowing on.
Note to self: while picking up st for cowl, decrease 12 st. evenly spaced: pick up 1, pick up and knit next, pass picked up st. over — times 12.

Finally an edge that I like: corrugated rib, 2x2.
Now I’ve detached the cotton lining from the neck, will frog the neck and redo that edge in corrugated ribbing too. Best a 1x1 i guess.
Good project for a steaming hot summer’s day. My mind wanders off and I hear the howling of frozen wind over iced moors on a dark grey winter day.
Also, I do love knitting colorwork! Can hardly wait for the next one, where i’ll be working with much easier yarn.
