I made some modifications to the order of the pattern.
Note: I was short by 4¼ yards of one skein with my modifications. So I bought a second skein to finish it, nice, but then I made a “Willow” with the rest of that second skein and was short in my Willow by about 15 yards, so I used a complimentary colour skein to finish it. So now I have a short skein of Madeline tosh dk light looking for a project…LOL!
I wanted a larger shawl because my shoulders are a little broader for my size, so I changed the row count of some sections and also made additional sections, which are, 1. a second section of the knotted open work and 2. an additional set of the butterflies.
I omitted the double row of eyelets that would normally separate the sections and just did a garter ridge in order to make a marked separation between these additional sections.
so my modifications made the shawl as follows:
- eyelets
- butterflies
- eyelets
- butterflies
- eyelets
- knotted openwork (7 yo rows not 8 as in the pattern)
- garter stitch ridge
- butterflies (one extra stockinette row in the top portion of butterflies to accommodate the garter ridge that is made between this section and section #7)
- garter stitch ridge
- knotted openwork (6 yo rows in this addition)
- garter stitch ridge
- ruffled edge section
Lovely shawl and it sits nicely on my shoulders and the sides fall to a nice length on my arm that would be about the same length as the sleeve of a tee-shirt.
