SUCCESS AT LAST! Problem one was I missed the foundation row and went straight to the chart duh! on me. As far as the holey look I changed needles and yes, started from scratch, new smaller needle and new ball of yarn, now I’m at row 22 of the chart and found that there is definitely a rhythm. If you’re not a chart person don’t let this stop you, just try it one or two or fifteen times :-) you will love it.

One of the key things for me is to use one particular stitch as a “locater” when doing my repeats and that is the stitch that runs a stockinette stitch that shows up on the wrong side of your work. When you have 139 stitch on your needle and you loose your place on the chart, it makes it easier to find this stitch in my work and the corresponding place in my chart, therefore narrowing down finding my place or a mistake to the 12 stitch repeats. On the chart I highlighted this stitch—if you go to the chart and look at the repeat it is stitch number 9 for the right side (4 for the ws) Then further on in the chart when the pattern shifts sideways it’s number 3 on the right side (10 for the ws) hope this helps.

Two skeins of my yarn works 47 rows that have 2 extra repeats worked into the patterns at cast on.
