This hat is great. It’s one of those patterns where I made some mods, thinking I’d improve it, and then regretted them, so ripped them out and just went with it. (The main one was a rolled brim.) The pattern is just right as is.

The only modification I made that actually stuck was knitting it top-down so the recipient could try it on during knitting. I’d never made a top-down hat before, so used the “recipe” here.

I love the Malabrigo Rios. Not as crazy about the Worsted in this application; I’ve used it happily in the past, but as others have mentioned it has gotten really pilly and seems to be a schmutz magnet (as you can see in the pictures … why did I photograph this on wood chips????) I may not use it in black again.
