2010-10-04: oy vey. this resulted in a mess, and i’ve given up at this point. i think i need a better circ than this thrift-shop special i have; it tangles in every which way. alas all my addis are large. so i transferred the cast-on, 1-row-half-knit socks onto two circulars, and am gonna do it cat bordhi’s way. since i’ve never actually successfully done that either, it’s not all bad. i need a break from terribly fiddly lace knitting (today is my day for not having the right needles for anything).
2010-10-05: i am a wiener (and by that i don’t mean to confess sudden citizenship of austria). i will have to mark the needles so i know which end belongs to which. it just wasn’t worth it, considering the crappy mood i’m in. back to DPNs, with which, paradoxically, i have no problems at all.
i love this colourway; it’s so saturatedly fiery.
2010-10-06: ok, i am feeling better and the socks are back on the two needles. now that there is substantial sock fabric it no longer seems so hard to sort everything out. in fact one sock ended up a couple of rows shorter than the other, and i am now slipping the other, and only knitting the shorter one, and so far so good. using yarn from the both sides of the ball. tangling isn’t too bad, and i got what i wanted: non-symmetry in colour distribution. watching “criminal minds”, whence the new name.
later that day: well, that went swimmingly until it came time to pick up the instep stitches, when my needles got all tangled again, and i gave up and moved it all back to DPNs.
2010-10-07: i am so totally not covering myself in glory. decreases every OTHER row for the heel. rip rip rip. finally both heels are done correctly, and i’m ready for the foot. back onto the circs for that; just in time for starting season 2 of CM.
2010-10-09: finally done. well, that wasn’t exactly a labour of love. but it is nice to have both socks done at the same time. i’ll probably do this again, though i’ll stick with 2 circs for a while.
2010-10-24: frogged. they were too large, and with that much slippage wouldn’t last. frogged to use the yarn in arm warmers instead.
