Magnus’s mum asked if I could make him some armwarmers, to keep his arms warm at night…
Improvised pattern based on the following measurements:
Circumference at top (upper arm): 19cm
Circumference at bottom (fingers): 12cm
Thumb circumference: 5cm
Distance thumb to end of armwarmer at fingers: 2.5cm
Total length: 22-23cm
So…
With 2.75mm, CO 44 sts using Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy cast on.
Join to knit in the round
1x1 rib 5 rows
Change to 3.5mm needles
Knit straight for 2.5cm after ribbing
Then continue knitting, decreasing 1 stitch every 3-4 rows until the piece measures 17cm and 28 sts left
(Striping begins after 8cm light grey)
Change to charcoal/black
Knit back and forth to leave thumb opening, until thumb hole is approx. 2.5 cm high
Join and knit in round again for approx 1.5cm above thumb hole
Change to 2.75mm needles
1x1 rib 4 rows
BO with EZ’s sewn bind-off
With 2.5mm needles, pick up 14 sts around each thumbhole
1x1 rib 2 rows
BO with EZ’s sewn bind-off
Repeat for other armwarmer. DONE.
