I ended up not liking it. Boo. For my blog post on it see here.
Neckline
I cast on about a million times for this. Other people have said how their neckline has been too small and I see why.
I did the high neckline and I ended up having to cast on with very large needles to get it loose enough.
Using the ‘knitting on’ cast on, and over two 8mm needles, I managed to get it wide enough. That’s insanely loose, so take heed!
I think it’s a much better solution than having to worry about changing stitch counts though.
My neckline ended up about 45cm long.
Sizing
I chose the 30” bust size, for 2” negative ease.
Armholes:
The pattern tells you to end the yoke when it’s level with your armpit. However, I wasn’t sure what part should be level with the armpit!
For the yoke, initially I did four repeats before putting the sleeves on scrap yarn.
When I tested this out, I found the armholes mega droopy!
So I ripped back and only did two repeats.
I now realise the part that should be level with the armpit is the part that crosses the armpit- not the front which droops lower, or the sides of the arms which sit higher.
Sleeves
People have mentioned the sleeves had an error but the pattern has been fixed now so no worries there.
For my elbow length sleeves I did 8.5 repeats.
I bound off with two 7mm needles held together with a hair band, LOL. I wanted it to be nice and loose. Not the easiest way I’m sure, but it seemed to work.
Body
I did 3.5 repeats to get it to a very cropped bolero length.
I bound off with a 10mm needle, but not sure it was loose enough to let the lace hang perfectly. That’s why I went looser for the sleeves. I could probably go even looser that that! (Two 8mm needles held together? Madness, lol!) I tried JSSBO but it looked ugly.
In progress
I’m really not sure how this is going to turn out. I like the way that Limu-Beth and natsuko have styled theirs. Hopefully I can pull it off like them!
