My first project on my brand new Louët David III 90 loom.
I followed the pattern/draft for winding the warp and threading the heddles except I wound a ~5-yard warp and made a mistake in the first bout, so I have an extra red stripe. I noticed the mistake after I had tied on but before I had started weaving, and I could have corrected it simply by winding 5 5-yd ends of white and taking out and replacing the mistaken red stripe with those ends, but I decided not to bother. There was no disruption to the pattern itself--that is, all the threads were in the proper place in the rose path repeat, so I decided a little asymmetry would be okay.
431 ends, which includes double floating selvedges. I didn’t know how to sley double floating selvedges, so I just put both ends through one slot in the reed.
I did the hems in plain weave for 2 inches using white 16/2 cotton.
Towel #1
I followed the pattern except I ended with a blue plaid repeat, and I made the white sections 5 repeats instead of 6. (I did this throughout the project.)
Towel #2
I alternated the plaids starting and ending with the red plaid--4 red plaid repeats total, 3 blue plaid repeats total.
Towel #3
5 repeats white, 1 repeat red X2
5 repeats white, 1 repeat blue X2
I repeated the above pattern 5 times, then ended with 5 repeats white, 1 repeat red X2, 5 repeats white
Towel #4
Same as towel 3 except I switched the red and the blue
Towel #5 (end of warp)
On this towel I did the white hem, then 5 repeats of white, then 1 rpt each blue white red white blue, 5 repeats white, 1 rpt each red white blue white red, 5 repeats white, then 1 rpt each blue white red white blue. I wove in white until I had 7 inches left, then repeated the striping but starting the first stripe with red, the second with blue, and the last with red
