Using smaller needles, CO 60 sts with red yarn. K1tbl, p1 ribbing for 10 rows.

Fair isle: k3 with red, k3 with white. Repeat until 2 sts remain on the first row. K2tog. Total of 59 sts. Repeat the striping (k3 in red, k3 in white) for 15 cm.

Heel flap: With 29 sts knit 30 rows in red. (WS: purl all of the sts. RS: slip 1, k1 until the end of the row.) French heel with 5 sts in the middle. Pick up 18 sts from both edges.
