Using 12mm needles.

Jan 2:After deciding that the boxy shrug didn’t suit my figure, I went with the poncho idea. Have nearly completed two large rectangles in this beautiful repeating pattern. Instead of 13 repeats I did 15, so 16 “ridges” of the 4-row repeat altogether. Then I sewed the two rectangles together, short edge to long edge and short edge to other long edge, to leave a nice head-sized hole at the top and a triangle-shaped point at the front and back. The poncho is very warm to wear. My friend Myuri modeled it for me, and although I love the finished product, she needs to stay warm, so it may become her poncho for the winter. :) Happy with how the poncho version of this shrug turned out.

Dec 2: Hmm… finished knitting all 3 pieces, started to sew it together, tried it on… I hate how it looks. :(

After a week of dithering, I’ve finally decided to face the reality that I do not like this shapeless, chunky vest and it doesn’t suit my body type at all (which is a shame, because the wool is lovely and the stitch pattern is interesting and fun to make).

Going to frog the two front pieces, then knit a second “back piece” and either sew it together into a poncho or add buttons and buttonholes to make it into a convertible poncho / shawl-shrug of some kind.
