Notes

I set out to make a hybrid shoulder shirt yolk sweater, but the way the decreases worked I had to make it a raglan. This was inspired by the cable on the patternt “Shredder” from Interweave Knits (seven sisters cable). I wanted to make it more balanced so I added a cable to the back and each sleeve. Also my husband likes seed stitch, a half zip, a raised neck that is higher in the back than the front, a lined collar, and other custom details, so I used the EPS system.

Provisionally cast on 204 stitches.

The usual EPS formulas did not quite work because the cable pulls in EXTREMELY with the twisted rib. In retrospect I should have cast on more stitches.

Provisionally cast on 43 stitches for the sleeves (leaving the cuffs for last) but this was too snug so halfway through the first sleeve I unpicked it from the bottom and ripped till the stitch count was 49. The odd stitch was for the “seam”.

I added seven stitch “bridge” for the steek pretty much at the point where I was about to add the sleeves on to the same needle. Left 11 stitches on thread for each sleeve and ten on each underarm (dropping one center sleeve underarm stitch over another on each side to make the numbers even before Kitchenering the underarms).

Once I knit the neck in twisted rib pattern up to where I needed it to be (using four sets of short rows to make the back longer), I then knit a lining to fold over in garter stitch, again using four pairs of short rows to make it even with the outside collar.

It is a bit snug but in my experience will stretch out to the desired shape after a few wearings. Let’s hope!
