April 1 — finished front border. A modification I made was to knit the front panel in the round, and add two pattern repeats along the back neck. I steeked the bottom and cut it before knitting the moss stitch finish all around. It curls a lot as others have noted, so I am lightly blocking before proceeding with the seams and sleeves.

11/25/17 swatch with size 4 needles is gauge of 30-31 st/4 inches. (Note after relaxing a year later it is more like 29.5 st/4”).

11/6/17: Second swatch on size 3.25 needles too small as well -- 31 stitches/4 inches. Will try one more with size 4 needles to try to get gauge.

11/5/2017: Swatch is too small — 35 stitches to four inches using 2.75mm needles — which is what I used for DH’s Shetland sweater earlier this year, but that sweater was made with Jamieson & Smith, which must be a bit heavier. Will make another swatch today with 3.25mm needles. I like this gauge though so I may just decided to make one sweater size up. It’s algebra time!
