Notes

34 six stitch cable repeats around, plus two purl stitches for a total of 206 stitches in the body.

After the armhole division, very slow slope of the v neck every five stitches, reducing shoulders to a total of 24 stitches.

Armholes were reduced on each side of the middle of the armhole 5/4/3, for a total of 24 armhole stitches reduced on each side over three pairs of rows, then armholes knit straight up for a total depth of 11 inches (to be reduced a bit when the arm borders are added.

Cast on the bottom of the sweater provisionally to be able to adjust the depth of the ribbing as needed (last sweater I made was a bit on the short side).

December 27 -- starting the ribbing at the bottom. May do a tiny two stitch twisted cable?

Shoulders (24 stitches) joined with kitchener stitch. Armholes finished with k1,p1 -- 102 stitches total, for five full rows and a sixth row bound off with JSSBO.

Button band -- I picked up one stitch for every two rows of knitting (originally did four for every six but that was too much). Garter stitch for eight or nine rows. Six buttonholes that were a single cast-off and then cast back on the next row. They were a little small and hard to find so I then did a sewn binding for them. Sewed the label into the shoulder. Pleased with the results. Substantial, warm sweater.
