Notes

I used the Rowan colors, but ignored most of the shaping directions as I wanted a tunic, and a more tailored fit.

I’m getting 27 st/4in with 5s and I want to knit in the round and make either saddle shoulders or hybrid shirt yolk or even set in sleeves if I can figure that out. I’m casting on with the pink color and doing a split hem with seed stitch (6 rows, then four stitch borders to the split until the front and back are united on one needle). I’m casting on 136 stitches for front and back with 3s and plan to decrease one stitch on each side when I unite the stitches.

2/10 -- I have started the decreases. I marked a single stitch on each side, and then leaving a two stitch margin, plan to reduce on either side of the five stitches, every ten rows. I want the waist to hit at about twelve inches from the hem, before I start increasing again. I am going to do six decreases and increases. Sweater is a bit on the large side.

11/27--restarted after a long break over Thanksgiving. 270 stitches around. Five decreases for waist down to 250, then up again to 270. May need to split hem a little higher and I hope this blocks out an inch or two.

11/30 finished body up to armpits and starting sleeves. I will start with EPS 20% of body or 52 stitches. Starting with second row of pattern.

12/18 uniting body with sleeves. Going to do set-in sleeves. Shoulders are 15 inches so front and back should be reduced to 96 stitches each based on gauge of 6.4 st/in. Sleeve stitches left for underarms should be 16 st. 135-16 = 119 to start, front and back, reducing down to around 90 stitches

12/20 adding fifteen stitches for steek area (5 overlap, 5 steek, 5 lining of front overlap). Reduced fronts and backs to 95 between “seam” stitches.

12/25 -- leaving one sixth of the front stitches plus placket steel on a thread (16 of 96) and need to reduce another eight on each side. Three rows of pattern to go.

12/29 -- knit arm borders and collar, using garter row stripes of the main color of each stripe, in the same order as the sweater. On the collar, increased one stitch 3 stitches from the end of every third row, to make the collar points. Wove in ends on the back side of the collar.

12/30 -- finished knitting, including knit facings for the placket, and started weaving in ends.

12/31 -- finished weaving in ends and blocked. 14 grams of ends and it took about 12 hours to weave in all the ends.
