First hat
Cast on on Sept 8, 2022 with US 5 needles. Like my other Forth hats, I’m using M1R and M1L increases instead of LLI and RLI as in the patterns. I’ve been trying to knit hats that fit kids’ heads and the C-AS has been too large, so am going to try for something smaller with this project.

I was getting 5 sts/inch as a gauge, but was afraid the hat would be too small if I knit the toddler size. I ended up increasing to a total stitch count of 84 - so increasing to 20 sts per section and adding the additional 4 sts.

Knit stockinette for 6.25 inches and the 2x2 ribbing for one. Bound off with the stretchy bind-off I’ve used for all these hats. 38.8 g; 59 yards.

Second hat
Cast on Sept 17, 2022. Followed the same sizing mods as the above hat. Knit to 6.5 inches before starting the ribbing. This one will have a folded-up brim.

Finished the knitting and bind-off on Oct 22, 2022. 60.6 g; 92 yards.

Sept 2023: Gave both away to a “winter warmth” charity drive.
