This is my favorite knitting project ever. It took me forever to finish it, but the final product is so satisfying. I’m so eager to send this to my friends.
The bear is much larger than I expected - I used worsted weight yarn (since I already had enough in my stash) and #5 DPNs. I hope it doesn’t frighten the poor child, haha.
I have to give props to the author - this pattern is VERY WELL written. The project is a bit advanced, but the directions are very clear. Beyond that short row correction (find the errata on this pattern’s ravelry page), just do exactly as you read with confidence.
I actually quite liked the way the limbs are connected with the covered buttons and such. I know some knitters opted for other techniques, but it feels secure, it looks nice, and (again) the instructions were easy to follow. I didn’t find it all that “fiddly.”
The nose is a bit wonky - I redid it once, but I was reluctant to do it a 3rd time, because the stitches underneath started looking a bit overworked. I think it turned out okay, though. The yarn I used is heathered - that’s why it’s got those spots.
Also, I kinda put her head on crooked… the decreases in the body aren’t centered as well as they should be… But I’m pretty sure a 6mos old baby will give me some grace on that one.
Anyway, this pattern is an A++. I adore this and I will never make it again. Haha!
1-22-24 - Whoa. I just noticed the bear’s face is purl-side out! HAHA! I have no clue how that happened. Oh well. Makes it more unique, I guess.
