I just LOVE this pattern! I keep buying massive quantities of yarn because I’m obsessed with sweaters. Even scarves need 3-4 skeins, so I never have enough yarn for a hat. I don’t want to dip into a sweater or shawl-sized stash so steal 200 yards of yarn. BUT I do have some leftover FlashDance! I made the arm warmers for a class but they weren’t my favorite & since nobody wanted to learn to knit them I’m frogging them to make this. :)
10/13 - Cast on with size 8 needles to make the largest size. I am living on the edge with this one cause I DIDN’T swatch. Yep, I’m crazy today, WATCH OUT!!! lolz
10/20 - Got through about 2 repeats & decided I didn’t like the larger gauge. With so much space between the stitches the cables didn’t really seem to pop out. It looked sloppy. So I ripped it out & went down to a size 6. It looked much better! Plus since I was getting the cable pattern down it went so much faster. I got back to where I started in just a half hour.
10/26 - I’ve made 4 repeats total. I think I’ll do one more then block it & see how it looks. It will definitely need blocking to pull the cables into the right shape. Plus I can block it to the right size I need to fit my head, then just pick up stitches then.
7/28/14 - Finished the brim! I think I ended up doing some minor mods to the ties so they look symmetrical but it’s done & it fits! Now I’m ready to cast on for the top.
1/31/15 - So I guess this sat around for over a year. I pulled it out yesterday & realized I did not have much to finish. Picked up stitches around the brim with a size 9 needle & knit about half way up the crown. Realized I wanted it a little more slouchy so 15 rows in I added 10 more stitches for a total of 100. Finished up tonight & it’s cute! Just in time for the 6” of snow we got tonight.
