I’m going to go on about how awesome Knitscene Accessories is. This is the second pattern (third project) I’ve started from that magazine. It is definitely worth $15. I’ve never made a shawl before. I’ve always admired them but I decided to break down & finally make one. I love madelinetosh merino light & found this graphite color that is close to the yarn used in the pattern pictures.
8/20 - Cast on! Didn’t do a swatch. I know how this yarn works up plus it’s a shawl so fit isn’t an issue. Knit about 9 rows, pretty cool shaping in the beginning. Seems to be an easy repetitive pattern I could memorize. I like patterns like this, that makes sense visually. It would be a nightmare to try to memorize line by line, but when you look at it, you can see the diamonds forming & I enjoy working patterns like that. After a while I don’t have to reference the charts, I just look at where I am.
9/8 - Knit some at the Salida Fiber Festival. Sat on a rock by the river in the park where the festival was & listened to these two guys play the guitar & what looked like an electric guitar. They were good! Knitted & listened for about a half hour before heading back to the campsite. Good times! :)
9/15 - Knitting away! I’ve been working on this when I get frustrated with my gigantic collection of in-progress sweaters. I don’t really need the pattern, the diamond pattern is really easy to follow by looking at shapes. The only row I get mixed up on is the middle one where you change from getting bigger to getting smaller. It’s a lovely, lovely shawl & I can’t wait to finish it.
