just want to give a huge shout out to Kristin for coming up with an amazing, versatile, easy pattern. I love it! It’s my go to pattern for slouchy beanies. If you haven’t checked out this pattern do yourself a favor & get a hold of a copy!
Found the perfect yarn for a green hat. I’m going to start dark at the brim & work up ton yellow at the top.
10/2 - Swatched. I know on the other hat I made with this pattern is used a thicker yarn that worked up at 14 stitches. The pattern calls for 20 stitches, I got 19 on a size 7. Because my head is so big & the pattern size says 21” I think the gauge offset will be fine sinice the difference will make it bigger. Cast on 102 plus the 5 short per gauge (4” gauge on 20” hat = 5 repeats), then added another 20 which should calculate out to a total of 127 stitches for a size of 22”.
10/3 - Finished the brim & knitted up about 3”. I’m starting to see the color change starting.
10/4 - Knitted half the ball. It’s getting pretty slouchy so I don’t think it’s possible to use up the whole ball. It bums me or cause I wanted it to be yellow at the top but it’s turning out so much cooler than I expected I think it will be fine no matter where in the color change I stop. I think having the solid dark brim is what made it. I’m taking it in to knit night tonight to get some feedback on fit.
10/7 - Didn’t get to knit night & I couldn’t find the pattern for a few days so I couldn’t do the decreases. Finally found the pattern & scanned it. In fact after having to search everywhere for this pattern I decided to scan my patterns that I bought so in case anything happened to the original paper copy I’d still have them. Plus then I can access them from my phone or tablet, which is normally how I reference my patterns while I work with them. Anyways, once I had the pattern it took me about 20 minutes to finish up. BTW, I love it. The color changes aren’t exactly what I was expecting but it turned or way better than I expected. I love it!!!
