Bamboo/Merino yarn dyed with Black Walnuts. A pretty color, that looks very different in different light. crazyhard to get a representative image! color is most accurate in 2nd photo.

An experiment with two strands, as I wanted a loose cuff that could be folded over boots.

working notes:
US2 needles
Using two strands of yarn:
Longtail cast-on: 60 stitches
Knit tail into first 2 stitches of first row.
K2P2 ribbing for 18 rows.
Switch to US1 needles (12 rows=1inch)
Drop blue yarn
Stockinette stitch 90 rows.
Heel flap Work on 30 stitches.
Row 1: K2, sl1 as if to Purl, K 1 repeat * to end, ending with a K stitch
Row 2: sl1 as if to Purl, then Purl to end of row
Row 3 (and every subsequent odd row):
Sl1 as if to Knit, Knit 1, sl1 as if to Purl, K 1 repeat * to end, ending with a K stitch

Heel flap = 38 rows, ending with an even (Purl) row
Turning heel on 30-stitch heel flap:
k17,ssk(slipping each stitch as if to knit), k1, turn
sl1, p5, p2tog, p1, turn
sl1, k6, ssk, k1, turn
sl1, p7, p2tog, p1, turn
etc, for 18 st heel

50 rows before toe decrease row1.
2nd sock: 53 rows. Rip 1st and add 3 rows.
Standard kitchener toe.
