Decided the best use for the handspun yarn I received from Susan Anderson would be a baby sweater. I’ve been searching through so many patterns and every time I pick a pattern for myself like a shawl or fingerless mitts or a hat, etc., I keep changing my mind and coming back to baby sweaters. I think the yarn is calling out to be a sweater!! :) So I think I better start listening!
Knitting the 0-3 month size sweater. I don’t know if I’m having a boy or girl yet in November, but if it’s a boy, then this sweater will become a gift for someone in the future. :) I was going to knit the newborn size but I decided I’d get more use out of a 0-3 month size, or in the case it’s a gift to someone else, it won’t have to be worn right away before it’s outgrown. :)
6/13/11: I almost finished the raglan increases, about 4-5 more rows to go. I wasn’t sure what I’d think of this yarn paired with this pattern but I LOVE it. :) My mom thinks this would be okay for a boy as well, but the way it’s striping and the way the colors mix together, I see nothing but girl for this (even though it’s got a blue overtone). :)
6/15/11: Finished bottom edge and short sleeves today. Could have made just a touch longer - a little yarn leftover, but I didn’t want to run out. Blocking. Need to find buttons…
6/16/11: Blocked, now to find buttons…
6/18/11: found buttons today and sewed them on at the family reunion. Sweater is FINISHED!!
a note on sizing- I used the 0-3 month sizing for the dk weight but my gauge was closer to worsted weight yarn. This looks too big for a 0-3 mo size and a bit on the small size for 6 months, so I’m calling it 3 months.
6/22/11: So we’re having a girl so I’ll be keeping this one for her! Hooray!
