Notes

Using DK acrylic yarn with a 3mm hook. For the legs I used a 2.5mm hook.

The pattern uses British crochet terminology.

I made my sc (or British dc) stitches with a yarn under, and then a yarn over, so the crocheted fabric is a bit tighter. The pattern calls for the regular sc stitch, but we can easily see the stuffing on the pattern photos. I did not have that problem and I stuffed my lobster firmly. I did not use wire or pipe cleaners for the 8 walking legs, but I crocheted them with a 2.5mm hook, then stuffed them well; they look firm. The only time I did not use the “yarn under” technique was when I made the long antennae, otherwise they would get too curly.

Whenever I had to reattach the yarn (e.g. for the claws and legs) I left a slightly longer starting tail to sew those holes later on.

8mm safety eyes inserted between rounds 7 and 8, with a distance of 4 stitches between them. I attached the eyes after the first couple of ridges of the body were done so I wouldn’t end up with the seam on the top, visible part of the body.

No pictures of the lobster’s “belly” in the pattern, so I took one myself.

This is a really nice pattern and I love how it turned out!

55g of DK yarn used in total.
Size: the body measures 21.5cm. body + front legs (not stretched) measures 27cm long.
