Babies are a gift to anyone. I am making several blankets as my gift to them. White is one of my favorite colors and it suits babies so much.
I also have a bunch of pure cotton yarn I bought at the local market. I would like to mix the 2 to see what they would look like. Of course, the granny square is the simplest stitch to avoid distracting from the beauty of colors. Here goes.

I just couldn’t help myself. My first skein is almost finished, yet it is still standing. I could see its inside. I took a photo of it that I share with you. If you know, you know . lol

The white part ended yesterday, and I was left wondering what color to use next.I decided on a lively pink.I also decided to use one size bigger hook (4.5 mm ,G/7) instead of the 4mm (f/6) hook.My modest experience has proven that a single stitch is always a tight one.
Still going slow, and still in love with this project.

I am still experimenting and re-learning the basics. This is what I discovered. colors become deeper and richer in crochet than in the skein. Also, turquoise and bright orange don’t look the best next to each other.

As I arrive to the end of this project, I want to say how liberating and informative this particular project has been to me.
This may be the first time I enjoy crocheting a blanket without worrying about shortage of yarn, stitch count and sticking to the color combinations. Variating colors as you work can be so liberating, so soothing and and therapeutic.
One other thing. I ran through the 6 - 7 years of crocheting. All I thought about was how to go through the current project, stitch counts and the endless patterns I wanted to do.
I have approached this project differently. Easy stitches and different colors let me take a closer and more meaningful look into my work. I learned the beauty of random color choices. I also learned that the granny stitch needs a row of single or double stitches to act as a buffer before continuing.
I hate to see this blanket finished. Yet, I am excited to give it to a new member of the human race.
