I read a lot about stash buster projects and how much fun they could be. But my personal experience is a bit different. I don’t know whether they are a blessing or a curse. Yes, they DO use up small batches of idle yarn that are too little for any project on their own. I am also forced to improvise and create patterns to accommodate what little yarn I have left as I move on.
On the other hand, I worry every single row of losing ‘chicken game’, I.e. the yarn ending half way through a row or half way through a pattern.
This is really stressful, and is contrary to the most important reason I crochet: unwinding and having fun. This is the 5th or 6th project using left over yarn and I’m not happy with the idea of stash busting.
I will finish this batch and return to buying yarn enough for whatever project I am working on. Return to having crochet my go to place when i want to relax and unwind.
As for this pattern, I mixed 2 patterns together to start with, then made some changes along the way as I ran out of yarn (see what I mean?). The square is made as is in the pic, but in the middle I made a 4 sided white star.
