I started this project with a sampler before actually getting fully immersed in it.I wanted to get a feel of how difficult (or even prohibitively difficult) it might be.
Actually, it was really easy and the squares are amazingly quick to do. I was overjoyed with the result (of the sampler mind you), and I can’t wait to start it.
One point: the squares are even more beautiful in real life than the wonderful images of the original genius pattern.
And another roller coaster adventure, here goes.

4 squares and 3 color combinations and 25 skeins later, I still can’t make up my mind on the color combination I want
today I bought a whole new bunch of colors. I’m really sorry for not being able to choose right, eventhough I’m dying to get started.
wish me luck

Finally, I chose my color combination. I DID buy 2 new shades, so I’ve exceeded my budget, but they are absolutely beautiful together now.
Now full speed ahead to one of the most intriguing patterns I have done so far.

20 squares later, I realized that an important part of enjoying crochet is the color therapy that comes with it. Black isn’t quite healing nor uplifting. so I will take a break and come back to this beautiful project some time later.

I’m more than half way through. I’ve run out of some of my yarn, and didn’t know what to do. I had worked so hard on the combination of colors I had been using. I decided to make a 180 degrees shift. Instead of having a single combination of colors I decided to make any combination that comes to my mind, or to be more precise, any combination that can be found in the Northern Lights or what is called Aurora. I am fascinated by them and am using them as an inspiration for the rest of my blocks. This is a big shift from the strict color scheme to a burst of colors. I hope you like them. I sure am enjoying myself.
I attached an image of Aurora to give you an idea of what this is all about.

Finally finished! My largest project so far. A double blanket with Terrazzo squares. The border was a row of single crochet,a row of double crochet, and a final one of single crochet. All in black to make the squares pop out. I JUST did a small variation of quadruple front post crochet around the middle of each side and the corners to put things together.
I love it
