DONE!!! Blocked, ends woven in, done done done!!!

I love this shawl. Can’t wait to wash it, the yarn should be yummy. Next shawls need to be smaller though - this is too big to wear out, I think. More like a blanket.

Three evenings to bind off, but I’m done! Just need to block and weave in ends. Not sure where to set up blocking mats…

-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-

Spent four hours binding off tonight, MAYBE halfway done. 1152 stitches to bind off, not my favorite thing to do. This shawl is huge and heavy, will be nice in winter but not sure I’ll ever wear it out. I’ll have to wait and see once it’s blocked. Already planning future shawls!

I got more yarn today! Thanks Shana! You ROCK!!!

I may have cut it too close with the yarn. I probably need to order another skein, as I believe I added a few knit rows when I ripped back both times. Frustrating, I hope they can match the lot number for me. Otherwise, I need to do just one heart border repeat, and possibly rip way back and decrease the number of gull wing rows. Which defeats the intention of the 8-9-10 symbolism.

Lessons learned…

With only about 20 rows to go, had to rip it back several rows. My count between the stitch markers was off, then I started knitting the wrong instructions partway through a row. Grm! :-/ I want to finish this and start my next shawl!

This is my first lace project, and my first shawl. I’m loving it! I think I may not be a sock knitter, but I am loving lace shawls! This was originally intended to be a thank you gift for my aunt-in-law, but I just might have to keep it. She can always have my second shawl!

I think it particularly fitting that I am making an EZ honorary shawl for my first.

Photos taken after running a lifeline about halfway through the project. I forgot to skip the stitch markers when running the line, I have to run it again. Live and learn!
