The red didn’t felt to itself, so used a knot or russian splice to connect the yarns.

It looks huge when not on a head, because it doesn’t have any stretch or elasticity to shrink back on itself like knitting does.

I made the hat from the bottom up. to do the decreases i put 8 paperclip markers at even spacing around the hat and when I got around to that marker I decreased. It has a bit of a nipple because I didn’t increase the frequency of the decreases quickly enough at the top.
