For Ronin K.

2019-11-20 Fresh Start

After a 75% finished bad start, :-) I’m now using a 6.0 mm hook for the starting chain of appx 50, then switching to a 5.0 5.5 mm hook for the rest of the cardigan. This is exactly like the cherry red cardigan.

Raglan increase = 1 hdc, ch 2, 1 hdc.

Row 1: starting raglan divisions are 1 hdc in 3 rd ch from hook (1 st; ch 3 does not count as a st), 7 hdc (left front = 8 sts), raglan increase (r. inc.), 6 hdc (left slv), r. inc., 16 hdc (back), r. inc., 6 hdc (right slv), 8 hdc (right front).

Total 48 sts: 44 sts and 4 raglan spaces.

Ch 2, turn (does not count as a stitch).

Back neck is beginning with 5 inches. Continuing to make rows with increases until back width at underarm reaches a width of a scant 9 inches. (In order to make a cardigan with an 18 inch chest, with ease.) I’m using baby sizing according to http://www.yarnstandards.com.

Length of blue main section cardigan to this point in construction: 9 inches.

2015-11-28 Sleeves and evening out the edges

Using 5 mm hook, starting on the right side to match the stitch pattern, work the sleeves with 22 sts of hdc in flat rows, then seam.

Switch to 4.5 mm hook to edge the fronts, sleeves and neckline with blue sc.

2015-12-06 Gold collar and edges

Switch to gold/yellow yarn for edges on sleeves, hem, collar, and button bands.

2015-12-06 Buttons and Completion

I wove in all the loose ends, and I used seven buttons, and sewed the eighth inside as a replacement. I don’t expect any to come off though, since I used stay buttons on the back side of the button band.

I steamed and ironed it in order to soften and smooth the garment and stitches. I wish it was a little more even in the button band area, but I think it looks pretty good. I’m probably too much of a perfectionist, but I was up late finishing it.

The other photos are of the Winnie the Pooh booties, bibs, and toy. Also two pair pants, in yellow and blue that I made the jacket to match. I also gave the bottle with mint cozy, and trimmed flannel blanket, and pacifier cords with clips, plus baby size hangers, and a onesie.
