Knitted this hat the week we spent in Philadelphia during Hurricane Sandy. I finished half in the car going there, but couldn’t concentrate until Friday after the storm in order to finish the brim.

Double stranded. With 5 mm hook, increase from magic ring to 72 sc, which is 6.75 “ diameter.

Increase on sc rounds until 3.5” for sides of hat.

Brim: change to 5.5mm hook working 12 increases evenly spaced in round, then work 1 (maybe next time 2) rnd even.

Work 1 rnd even with 6 mm hook. Work 1 round with 12 increases, evenly spaced, then work 2 rnds even.

Change to 6.5 mm hook to work 2 rnds even. (Next time: 1 more rnd.)
Change to 6.0 mm hook to work 1 rnd even. (Maybe next time: 1 more rnd.)
Change to 5.5 mm hook to work 1 rnd even.

Change to 5 mm hook to finish with 1 rnd of crab stitch (reverse sc).

All the “maybe next time” notes are because I’d probably have liked the hat a smidge longer and the brim a bit wider. I wouldn’t have enough yarn though, so it’s OK as is.
