Notes

Pretty easy and certainly can be completed in less time than it took me!

Used 5.5mm hook for motifs and 5.0mm for shrug body.

I have short arms. Denise designed this to have a 3/4” sleeve. The sleeve alteration was easy. Made the shrug rectangle 3” shorter in length than pattern calls for, then seamed sleeves to be 12 1/2” long instead of 14” as pattern specifies. Just right!

Tip: Block each individual motif and the rectangle that forms the shrug before sewing any seams!

Used mattress stitch to sew motifs together and to shrug body. I think I used an overcast stitch for the sleeve seams.

Originally, the top row of motifs met at the back neckline of the shrug. To me this was uncomfortable, so I gathered the end motifs of the top row so that they left a gap at the back neck that was 1 motif (5”) wide. When it came to the round of finishing stitches I simply continued them across the back neckline, placing 15 evenly spaced stitches into the ends of the rows of the shrug body.

It’s a comfortable and very warm little jacket. I may make again but use a lighter, loftier yarn - or alpaca!
