Notes

Changed the side edging and omitted the setup garter rows so there’s no garter stitch at all.

Pattern with my edge stitch (multiple of 9 sts + 10):
Rows 1 and 3 (ws): slwyf, p to end
Row 2 (rs): slwyb, k2tog, k, yo, k, (strangling vine 9-st repeats), yo, k, k, ssk, k
Row 4 (rs): slwyb, k2tog, k, k, yo, (strangling vine 9-st repeats), k, yo, k, ssk, k

June 24, 2011 - won this yarn as a doorprize at Knitty Yarn Round Table! Yellow and yellow-gray aren’t a good colour on me, though, even if I like the greys and greens and dark blue. Plan to overdye with cyan foodcolour to get greens and teals and navy.

June 26, 2011 - Into the big crockpot with about 2L water, 1/2 cup vinegar, and 1/4 cup cheap bulk “blue” (cyan) liquid foodcolouring. Turn on the heat, wait 4+ hours for dyebath to exhaust, and hooray!

Time to find the right lacy scarf pattern.

July 9ish, 2011 - swatched over 28sts until I found the needle size that produced the fabric I liked best

July 10ish 2011 - cable cast-on 55 sts using a size US 6 needle (after swatching with 45 and getting too much pooling). No edge stitches, immediately began pattern stitch as above with size US 3 needle.

July 20, 2011 - by the time the Stitch and Pitch was done, this was beginning to puddle in my lap.

July 30, 2011 - measures 20”, getting too heavy to knit while standing/walking anymore. Photos added! Progress shot and closeup (unblocked, of course - but this is going to look so amazing when blocked!).

August 20, 2011 - took it to the Blue Rodeo concert at the Amphitheatre in Ontario Place, and knit it before the show and after the opening act. Then the temperature plummeted drastically and the wind picked up, and I was pleased to discover it’s now long enough to wrap 1.5 times around my neck with the ends hanging down in front. So cozy! After the show, I wore it like that while waiting for the crowd to thin out so we could exit, and then all the way home on transit -- and knitted it at the same time wherever there was sufficient light. Fashion statement!

Weighed the yarn ball at home - just 27g of 100g left! Almost 3/4 done!

September 4 -- bind-off! About a meter of yarn left over. The length and width are very good so far, but it needs blocking.

September 7: Blocking! It wanted to become very very long and skinny, but I coaxed it to about 5’ long (length of my blocking board (actually a piece of cheap styrofoam insulation) by about 1’ wide, with the help of LOTS of pins. Blocking wires would be good to have.

September 13: Finally a good-weather day and someone to help me take pictures! DONE!
