Frogged this twice because of the bad laddering between cables. Found Rox’s TWIR article here on Ravelry about “Eastern Purling” and it really helped.
(Adding link so I can find this again quickly, as I needed it today and had to search. 27JUL2012)
Knit 4 extra rows of stockinette stitch plus one row of garter at beginning and end to have edge to turn for firmer finish. Used smaller cable to make handles. Had difficulty sewing them up until I tried chopsticks. Split the plies of the yarn to make I-Cord on size 1 needles for thin loop to fit button. Don’t like the way the bag curves, should’ve “killed” it with steam before sewing up. I’m going to pretend it’s supposed to look this way. Made lining from t-shirt which matched the yarn pretty well. Had to sew lining by hand as sewing machine is broken and waiting for a part.
Bought two skeins to use doubled, but I have well over half of each skein left.
(The dollar is because of my mother’s superstition that you never gift a bag or wallet without a little money in it, so the bag or wallet will always have money in the future.)
