Cast on 44st on 3.25mm needles. 2x2 rib for 3” with thumb hole in 6th round, 6 st wide. Knit 44 rounds in stockinette until work is 10”, then increase at beginning and end of every other row until you have 60st. Continue stockinette in stst until work is a total of 12” from cast on.
Start knitting flat in pattern but
Sl4wyif for the last 3 of every row and
K4 at beginning of each row (icord edges)
Do a purl row, knit row, purl row, then a pattern row.

Alternate row 1A and 1B of pattern row to make staggered eyelets.

Pattern row:
1A: K4, (Yo, K2tog, K3) repeat to last 4st, Sl4wyif
1B:(K2, Yo, K2tog, K)
