Test for a pattern.

This one turned out a bit lopsided, which is, I think, not a problem with the pattern, but with the execution. And maybe a bit the yarn as well: it is in places rather unevenly spun.

Its name is Benedict, by the way, which is entirely my niece’s fault, and her crush’s on a certain British actor playing a very famous detective (though I am not sure whether he would think it a compliment having a crocheted hippo named after him).
