I’ve been collecting clues while I finish up a WIP, and am ready to start!

Agonized for almost a month on the colors to use, and ultimately decided to not try and use mix and match leftovers, but to color block with a variegated that I have two skeins of, and two coordinating colors. Starting with a coordinating color (gold), will then alternate variegated, blue, variegated, yellow, variegated … etc. Using a leftover Miss Babs toe skein from a set I picked up for another project.

One other option that had run through my head - use the leftovers from an advent kit with the partial skein of the contrast color. Unfortunately, my leftover yardages fell short, and I was afraid to try to do it with a block of the contrast color at the beginning and the end, not sure if I’d have enough yardage of that skein left, and if I run a gradient and run out of yarn it may not be salvageable. So, I shelved that idea and moved on. Leaving this idea here in case someone else can use it and make it work.

I finished clue 7 before clue 8 was released! Only by a few short hours, but I did it. And I really didn’t race through it, it’s just such an easy and relaxing knit that it became a monogamous project for the week. So if you ever think you are running too far behind any KAL to start, just remember that I started after clue 7(!!) was released and am now caught up.

I am so happy with the color choices here, they work perfectly together and considering that these were deep stash dives with fingers crossed, I think it was meant to be.

I’m running low on the blue, have more than half a skein of the gold, and more than 1.5 skeins of the variegated left, so either we have a ton of knitting yet to go, or I’m going to have plenty of leftovers.

Next clue was released a bit early, got to it a day later. Just managed to get the stitched picked up, the contrast band done, and a few rows of the color block. Hope to finish it up in a day or two and then get back to the cardigan I have as an alternate project.

Clue 9 done. Another week to wait for the next one.

Off the needles! Used far less yarn than expected, but it’s still a large scarf/wrap. Need to block and get photos.
