Finished through the set up and the first full repeat of the lace pattern. Started with 100g, used 10g exactly for this section.
August 28, 2024
Finished 2 more repeats - 6g of yarn used
August 29, 2024
4 more repeats complete - 69g remaining.
Set up and first pass through = 10g used
First 6 repeats = 21g used
Averaging between 3 and 4g used for each repeat.
Need to leave 10% for finishing (10g) so I should have to do a total of 22 repeats to maximize the usage of yarn.
100g -10g to start - 10g to finish = 80g for repeats
80g / 3.5g per repeat = 22.8 repeats round down to 22
August 31, 2024
11 repeats complete. 54g left.
100-10g to start = 90g
90g - 54g remaining = 36g used
36g / 11 repeats = 3.3g per repeat on average
54g remaining - 10g for finishing = 44g left to use
44g / 3.3g = 13 more repeats to go
if that ratio holds, I’ll end up with 24 total repeats, so I’m not quite halfway there.
September 6, 2024
18 repeats complete. 29g left.
100-10g to start = 90g
90g - 29g remaining = 61g used
61g / 18 repeats = 3.4g per repeat on average
29g remaining - 10g for finishing = 19g left to use
19g / 3.4g = 5 more repeats to go
if that ratio holds, I’ll end up with 23 total repeats, the finish line is getting closer!

Off the needles!
23 repeats completed with 13g of yarn left. Pattern calls for 10% to finish, so I stopped here. Averaging 3.4g per repeat felt like it might be cutting it too close to squeeze one more in. Expected to end with around 3g of yarn left.
Decrease section completed with 9g of yarn left. I could have fur sure not only squeezed in another repeat, but I could have done two more! Bummer.
Blocking is absolutely required as it curls in on itself vertically and horizontally.

Blocking has begun. Blocked measurements are 72” x 11” and I dragged out the dreaded blocking wires to get the straight lines for the sides.
