Use this set to make a true fade - starting with CC1 instead of the MC, and then work it 2 sizes larger than the last version to take up some of the extra length and to enable it to close further around the body. Pick up front band stitches in every stitch to avoid the front pulling up like in the last one (which is exactly what I wanted for that one).

Started with CC1. Finished row 24 of the yoke and had 6” left after leaving a tail. Started CC2 on row 25.
Debated trying to do a fade process A-B-AAA-BB-AA-B but that required far too much effort for me to figure out usage per row and try to estimate when I would have to make the changeover. Also, thinking forward to the sleeves the math gets even worse. So subtle stripes it is!

CC2 finished up at the end of row 40. Had about 3g left. Thinking that when I get to the sleeves it may be 8 rows or less per color but hoping for at least 8 rows.
Set aside for a few days to work on the next clue of an MKAL but will be back to it soon!

CC3 finished with 2g left at the end of row 54.

CC4 finished with 4g left at the end of row 64. I could have made it through row 65, but I want to be consistent with the color changes on the right side so I stopped.
CC5 finished with 3g left at the end of row 74.

CC5 finished with 4g left at the end of row 74.

CC6 finished at the end of row with less than 1g left.
August 24, 2024
Finished the last 4 rows of the yoke with CC7 then split for the sleeves. Did 4 rows of the body, and 4 rows of each sleeve and had 3g left.
Will do 8 rows of the body and 8 rows each sleeve with the next color to see where we net out for the balance of the body/sleeve section.

Finished 8 rows of the body and 8 rows of ech sleeve with CC8. 2g left.

8 body rows and 8 rows for each sleeve - 2g left of CC9
November 26, 2024
Getting back to it!
8 rows for the body and 8 rows for each sleeve - 3g left of CC10.
November 27, 2024
8 body rows and 8 rows for each sleeve - 3g left of CC11
November 28, 2024
8 body rows and 8 rows for each sleeve - 4g left of CC12
December 1, 2024
8 body rows and 8 rows for each sleeve - 3g left of CC13
8 rows for each sleeve and 10 body rows - less than one gram left of CC14
Sleeves are 4 rows longer than called for because I didn’t want to cut the CC14 stripe short. I like the way the slightly deeper color will play against the MC for the next sleeve section.
14 body rows - 2g left of CC15

Two more colors to go!
December 31, 2024
14 body rows - 2g of CC24 left
14 body rows - 1g of CC25 left
And the colors are done! Now it’s on to the short rows, collar, and balance of the sleeves in the MC. Still a long way to go, but this was a big milestone. Length-wise she’s about to my calves now, and will almost be to the floor with the hem.

Both sides short row sections are complete, finished the hem ribbing, picked up all the stitches for the front band, and worked the first row of the front band.
Picking up stitches was so easy with the slipped stitch edging. Glad I decided to add that for this version.
January 4, 2025
Only two rows left to go before the front band bind off! These are a long slog, but with the finish line so close I can’t stop now.
January 5, 2025
Front band finished and bound off. Sleeve one short rows, cuff, and bind off finished.
Sleeve two short rows finished. Just the cuff and bind off to go!

Completely off the needles! Ends were woven in as I went, so now she’s ready to be blocked. That’s a job for tomorrow.
