Notes

Oh, how I love this colourway with this pattern. Perhaps that explains the ridiculous number of photos? As ever, the White Gum Wool is delicious to work with. I’m looking forward to putting this on my niece this weekend!

Quaintly is the comprehensive pattern of Kelly’s Composite newborn tee. It will cover three yarn weights and a large size-range.

Things I love
~ Quaintly is both practical and pretty. The lace isn’t going to impede playtime, but it gives a whimsical elegance to the top.
~ The knitting is enjoyable. And although wrangling “the octopus” (working on two different-sized long circular needles at once for a few rows) is a little challenging the first time, the result is that the sleeves are completely finished by the time you’ve joined to work in the round. That means that when you cast off the hem, all you have to do is weave in a couple of ends and sew on some buttons. Hey presto!
~The pattern, despite its complexity, is very clear and well-written (as usual with Kelly’s patterns). There are charts as well as written instructions.
~Three yarn weights! This will definitely be a go-to pattern for girls.

The pattern calls for only one functional buttonhole. I’ve added a second one, leaving four garter ridges between buttonholes. The third button is sewn through both layers of buttonband.
