Colors and motif are my own design - the same used in this hat (except replacing Old Gold with Burnt Ochre - the Old Gold was too greenish). I’m going to do side and raglan “seams” like lorijo did for her sweater.
4/7/2011 - Dunno what’s up with the bottom rib curling. That never happens on my hats, and I’m not doing anything different (other than that the ribbing is longer). I assume that will block out anyway. Other than that I’m loving it so far.
4/19/2011 - Finished the body up to the armpits and put everything on stitch holders. I’ve started the first sleeve (on 2 circulars) and am just past the ribbing. My gauge is very different than it is for hats, even though I’m using the same needles. On hats I normally get 7 stitches and 9.5 rows to the inch. Maybe that’s from stretching the hats over my head? On this project I’m getting the standard 8x8 square gauge that I always see in the knitting books. I was making the sweater conservatively large just in case, anyway (3 year olds grow fast!) so the smaller stitch gauge is not bothering me. I lopped off a whole pattern repeat (26 rows) off the sleeves and body to account for the larger row gauge. Hopefully it’ll all work out…
5/1/2011 Finally joined for the yoke. This was way more of a pain than I thought it was going to be. Next time, I’m making a drop-shoulder sweater with shaped armholes. And I’m going to do the sleeves at the same time, with steeks. I’ll have to seam them, but knitting them together and not having to weave in the ends is TOTALLY worth it.
