I love this hat! It was so fun to make. I wish I didn’t have to give it back to the store. But, that’s the fun, right? The actual knitting part? So, I’ll just make it another one as soon as the Christmas spirit hits again.

Knitted this hat from the top down which was a first for me, but it was really easy. Use Evajae’s idea of the stripes because I didn’t have enough red left to make a whole hat. That I will do again on purpose.

Knitted the large size hat to pattern alternating colors every 12 rows.

Modifcations to the brim: after last color row was knitted, knit one row of white decreasing 10 stitches evenly around the hat. First, I knitted as written, but it was really large as other Ravelers has noted. Could have decreased a few more stitches, I think.

Then did 30 rows in seed stitch so the brim could be rolled. I did one row of knit with the white before starting the seed stich so the red wouldn’t be showing up from the purl bump created by the white purl stitch. One round of knit just cleaned that up.

To make the color changes jogless in the round, knit the first row with the new color (starting with then first stitch), then when starting the second round with the new color, pick up the right leg of the stitch below (the old color), put it on the needle and knit the two together.
